Initiative:

Fragility to Resilience in Central and West Asia and North Africa

Creating innovations for the transformation of agrifood systems

Many countries in Central and West Asia and North Africa (CWANA) experience declining agricultural production as a result of conflict, gender inequalities, youth unemployment, and the difficulties farmers face in accessing resources, new technologies and practices in the absence of adequate support from policies and institutions.

Researchers are working to promote active engagement with regional stakeholders by setting up National Alliances of Stakeholders (NASs) and to understand institutional constraints as a key factor in enabling CGIAR scientific innovations to reach farmers at scale through establishing new National Innovation Platforms (NIPs) or strengthening existing ones.
