West and Central African Food Systems Transformation

Overview

Researchers are building on existing and new partnerships to co-develop, adapt and bring innovations to scale. They will also make use of existing technologies, including those developed by other CGIAR Research Initiatives such as Accelerated Breeding, Seed Equal, Excellence in Agronomy, Plant Health and Gender Equality.

The CGIAR Initiative on West and Central African Food Systems Transformation is focused specifically on the following areas of work:

• Enabling sustainable intensification and diversification of food production
• Building resilience and reducing climatic risks in smallholder systems
• Developing sustainable landscape management plans and inclusive governance of agro-ecologies
• Catalyzing gender-responsive youth entrepreneurship and job creation
• Integrating and validating gender-transformative scaling readiness
