Foundations of Input-Output Analysis & SAM Multiplier Modeling for Economic Impact Assessment

The CGIAR Initiative on National Policies and Strategies in collaboration with the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), has partnered with Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University (RPCAU), Pusa, Samastipur, Bihar and the Agricultural Economics Research Association (AERA), to organize a one-day workshop on Foundations
of Input-Output Analysis & SAM Multiplier Modeling for Economic Impact Assessment
. The event will take place on the RPCAU Campus.


The workshop is intended for advanced PhD students, Young ICAR/University faculties, students with recent PhDs, and officials engaged in research from government ministries/
departments and civil societies. The workshop will consist of lectures and hands-on experience in multiplier modelling. Participants will have an opportunity to meet experts during the 31st Annual Conference of AERA to discuss their research with the experts.


Course Schedule
09:30-12:30:Introduction to SAMs (lecture and exercises)
  1. Introduction to Input-Output (IO) table and its application
  2. Practical exercises on IO Multiplier and iteration of results
13:30-17:00: SAM multiplier analysis (lecture and exercises)
  1. Concept and Construction of Social Accounting Matrix (SAM)
  2. SAM multiplier analysis using computer.
