Wednesday May 15, 2024 | 10:15–11:15 UTC / 11:15–12:15 CET / 14:45–15:45 IST |
This NEXUS Gains webinar will discuss the complex relationships between water, energy, food, and ecosystems (WEFE) in the context of the climate crisis. It will explore the interconnectedness of these vital elements and their responses to the urgent challenges posed by the changing climate. Featuring talks from Prof. Dr Walter Immerzeel, Utrecht University, on the Indus Basin, and from Mr Dipak Gyawali, Nepal Academy of Science and Technology and former Minister of Water Resources, on water governance challenges, this session will explore how the WEFE nexus can help us tackle one of the greatest challenges of our time.
During the panel discussion, we will hear from Nepal’s former Foreign Minister, Dr Bimala Rai Paudyal, and Engr. Ahmad Kamal, from the Government of Pakistan’s Ministry of Water Resources, as they share their thoughts on innovative approaches to mitigate and adapt to the climate crisis using the nexus approach.
