Agricultural Economics Research Association organized a capacity strengthening training on “Fundamentals of Input-Output Analysis and Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) based Multiplier Modeling for Economy Wide Impact Assessment” on 6th December 2023 in RPCAU (Pusa), Samastipur, Bihar. Dr. Barun Deb Pal, and Mr. Manmeet Singh Ajmani from IFPRI conducted the training.

The training started with an introductory lecture on economy-wide modeling and matrix algebra, which was followed by some hands-on exercises on MS Excel to apply the lessons. The post lunch sessions were focused on India’s input-output and supply-use tables, followed again by a hands-on session to acquaint the participants with some more calculations. SAM was briefly discussed in the concluding training session.

The participants were the researchers affiliated with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, and the faculties and students (PhD and Masters) from RPCUA, and other universities. 63 participants attended the training.
