Daniel debouck: the man who knows his beans

Daniel Debouck, former CGIAR CIAT genebank manager, has dedicated 40 years of his professional life to bean diversity.

“Daniel has collected more than 4,000 accessions in 38 expeditions through 11 countries. He has discovered 16 new species and identified the ancestors of two crops.” (Not to mention the fact that from 1996 – 2016, he also was the keeper of CIAT’s cassava and forages collections.)

A passionate, dedicated scientist, a lovely and loving human being, Daniel is a force to reckon with, a man who does not — and cannot — rest on his laurels.
