Delta Talks Live features AMD and Partners’ Innovations

The CGIAR Initiative on Asian Mega-Deltas (AMD) and Wageningen University & Research (WUR) conducted the first ever Delta Talks Live with the theme AMD & Partners’ Innovations. This event, which was a highlight of AMD’s Annual Meeting & Pause, Reflect and Plan Workshop in Dhaka, showcased presentations on various innovations addressing climate change and food security challenges in AMD focus countries, such as Bangladesh, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

Dr. Bui Tan Yen, scientist at the International Rice Research Institute-Vietnam, presented on the utilization of the Climate-Smart Mapping and Adaptation Planning (CS-MAP) approach to understand local perceptions of climate risks and to develop adaptation plans tailored to specific sites in the delta provinces of Cambodia.

Dr. T.S Amjath-Babu, scientist at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center-Bangladesh, discussed Agvisely, a platform aimed at promoting the resilience of farming systems through science-based climate advisory.

The team of scientists from the International Potato Center presented their work on breeding innovations for roots and tubers in areas affected by salinity within the deltas.

Mr. Chhim Tithamatak, Director of Entrepreneurship Education at Impact Hub Phnom Penh, introduced the Dak Dam Innovators for Resilient Agriculture — a startup program for aspiring entrepreneurs who want to improve the agriculture using innovative ideas and climate-resilient agriculture practices.

The Delta Talks Live was moderated by Dr. Catharien Terwisscha van Scheltinga, a Delta Expert at WUR.
