The Eastern Africa Farmers Federation (EAFF) and Accelerating Impacts of CGIAR Climate Research for Africa (AICCRA) held an online meeting on 30 April to canvas for the global identification of best climate adaptation practices among farmers. The sought farmer-led climate adaptation case studies are strategies and actions designed and implemented at the local level by farmers and their communities to reduce the risks posed by climate change and build resilience to the impacts of climate change among farming communities.
EAFF and AICCRA will jointly implement this project, in collaboration with other partners, to showcase the best examples of farmer-led adaptation in managing the negative impacts of climate change on agriculture. These solutions will serve as useful models to present as climate solutions in climate congresses during CoP29 and beyond. The case studies will be selected from all African regions—north, south, east, west, and central Africa. President of the Eastern Africa Farmers Federation, Elizabeth Nsimadala, in her opening remarks, gave a brief of EAFF’s recent engagements in climate issues and emphasized the need to document the role of farmers in climate change adaptation.
