In September 2018, a Brussels Development Briefing featured discussions on “Food safety: A critical part of the food system in Africa”. Among the panelists was Kristina Roesel, a joint appointed scientist at Freie Universitaet in Berlin and the International Livestock Research Institute, who presented on the importance of strengthening the capacity of informal markets in sub-Saharan Africa to improve food safety.
