For the fifth installment of the Delta Talks, the CGIAR Initiative on Asian Mega-Deltas (AMD) and Wageningen University & Research (WUR) presented a webinar on people-centered researches under AMD to understand human behaviors related to climate change adaptation.
Ms. Le Phuong Dung, a PhD Candidate at WUR and a research fellow at the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, presented her research on farmer’s conflict and cooperation behaviors related to land use transition in rice-shrimp systems in Vietnam. She looked into how farmer’s lack of decision-making power and high opportunity cost are affecting their conflict and cooperation behaviors.
Dr. Katherine Nelson and Dr. Ong Quoc Cuong, scientists at the International Rice Research Institute, presented the results of their choice experiment on climate change and migration in Bangladesh. The study investigated residents’ preferences for migration attributes in Hatiya Island, especially the relationship between climatic events and migration decisions.

A collaboration between AMD and WUR, Delta Talks is a webinar series focusing on the development and results of research activities on securing food systems and strengthening climate resilience in the Asian mega-deltas. Delta Talks serves as a platform for the joint exchange of research results or ongoing work between AMD and WUR.
