CGIAR Centers – ICARDA, IWMI, IFPRI, and the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT supported by the Accelerate for Impact Platform (A4IP) – in collaboration with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) of Egypt, are set to host the “Consultation Workshop: Deep Diving into the Agri-tech Innovation Ecosystem in Egypt” on Wednesday, 7 February 2024 from 10:30-16:00 (GMT+2) at the InterContinental Cairo Semiramis.
This high-level event adopts an inclusive approach by bringing together representatives from Government, Educational Institutions, Research Centers, Accelerators, Venture Funds, Farmers, and Start-ups operating in agriculture and the innovation space across Egypt. The goal is to foster an open dialogue on creating a conducive environment for the development and adoption of agri-tech innovations. Discussions will focus on exploring the opportunities to attract and connect emerging innovations with demand, and identifying investment prospects to secure funding for solutions in agri-tech.
As part of the CGIAR Regional Integrated Initiative ‘From Fragility to Resilience in Central and West Asia and North Africa’ (F2R-CWANA), which seeks to build resilient agrifood systems that can withstand the impacts of climate change and generate economic opportunities for rural communities in the region, this workshop serves to customize the design and priority areas of the AgriTech4Egypt Innovation Challenge 2024. This beneficiary-centered and solutions-oriented project will scout, accelerate, and fund agri-tech innovations for Egypt that harmonize with the country’s objectives in the 2030 Sustainable Agricultural Development Strategy. It aims to provide adaptable, deployable, and affordable context-specific solutions for smallholder farmers to improve the sustainability, productivity, and resilience of their farms.
Register here to virtually attend the plenary sessions from 10:30:12:00 (GMT+2)
