More than a bank: reflections on the history of the inter-american development bank

First of two parts.

In 2019 the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) celebrated the 60^th anniversary of its creation, and in Oct. 2020 a new President will take office. The list of candidates will be better defined at the coming annual meeting in Barranquilla, Colombia, March 18-22, with the election taking place in the second half of this year. Therefore, it seems a good time to reflect on the bank and its role in the region.
