Researchers from the CGIAR Research Initiative on Sustainable Healthy Diets through Food Systems Transformation (SHiFT) will be attending and presenting SHiFT research at Nutrition 2024 from June 29 to July 2, 2024, in Chicago, Illinois.
Hosted by the American Society for Nutrition, Nutrition 2024 is in its seventh year, and is a major education and networking experience for nutrition professionals from academia, industry, and government around the world.
Phuong Nguyen from the International Food Policy Research Institute will be presenting results on Monday, July 1, from the large diet and food environment survey that was conducted in 2022-2023 in three sites in Viet Nam. The title of her poster presentation is “Low Global Diet Quality Score (GDQS) Among Adolescents in Vietnam is Due to Inadequate Consumption of Fruits and Vegetables rather than High Consumption of Unhealthy Foods.”
With the University of South Carolina, IFPRI researchers from SHiFT are developing and testing a food safety experience scale for use in low- and middle-income countries. Laukhika Kasetty, a student from the University of South Carolina, will present findings on Sunday, June 30, from a scoping review that informed the scale. The title of her poster presentation is “Assessing Experiences of Food Safety: A Scoping Review of Research Methodologies and Constructs.”
The International Food Policy Research Institute and the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT lead SHiFT in close collaboration with Wageningen University and Research and with contributions from the International Potato Center. SHiFT combines high-quality nutritional and social science research capacity with development partnerships to generate innovative, robust solutions that contribute to healthier, more sustainable dietary choices and consumption of sustainable healthy diets. It builds on CGIAR’s unparalleled track record of agricultural research for development, including ten years of work on food systems and nutrition under the CGIAR Research Program on Agriculture for Nutrition and Health.
