Senior scientist Andrew Miccolis shared success stories of restoration with agroforestry, including mixed oil palm and other commodity crops.
According to Miccolis, the secret to ensuring that the social and environmental aspects are compatible is good management practices. He gave the example of oil-palm agroforestry systems developed in a partnership between ICRAF Brazil, Natura Cosmetics, Cooperativa Agricola Mista de Tome-Açu and the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) in a world-first experiment.
