The International Potato Center (CIP) is looking for a
proactive Senior Research Associate to work in the project
titled: ‘Developing local Seed Potato Production System in West Bengal’.
About the role
This position will be based in West Bengal and the
selected candidate will be responsible for the Pathology and seed quality
aspects of the project deliverables. This position will be based in Siliguri,
West Bengal, India and will report to the Project Manager of West Bengal
Project.
Key responsibilities:
The selected
candidate will mainly focus on these tasks/responsibilities below:
- Lead
and manage research projects focusing on seed pathology, coordinate research
activities and resources to ensure project goals are met.
- Design
and conduct experiments to study seed health and disease resistance.
- Analyze
data and prepare detailed research reports, conduct thorough data analysis to
identify patterns, trends, and correlations.
- Collaborate
with other researchers and departments to ensure project consistency.
- Provide
guidance and supervision to junior researchers, technicians, and interns.
- Publish
research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
- Comply
with national and international health and safety laws, regulations, and
standards.
Requirements
What are we looking for?
The selected
candidate should have the following skills, knowledge, experience, and personal
characteristics:
- Ph.D.
in Plant Pathology, Seed Technology, or a related field.
- At
least 5 years of experience in agricultural research, specifically in seed
pathology.
- Proven
track record of research publications.
- Strong
analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent
communication and leadership abilities.
- Advance
written and verbal communication skills in English, Hindi and Bengali.
- Willingness to travel frequently within Districts of West Bengal.
