The concept of ‘Rights of Wetlands’ embraces the global Rights of Nature movement to safeguard wetland ecosystem functions and services for the well-being of biodiversity and humans. It involves a wetland’s right to exist, performing its functions and maintaining its interconnectedness across the web of life.

This project seeks to implement a Rights of Wetlands approach to deliver improved community wetland management, legal mechanisms and governance frameworks. During the period 2023–2026, the project will attempt to transform the Rights of Wetlands approach from a concept to practice in five countries: Bolivia, Ecuador, Guyana, Kenya and Sri Lanka.
