India’s Mint published an op-ed by IFPRI’s P. K. Joshi on how innovation can be applied for sustainable agricultural development and help improve incomes for small farmers. Among Joshi’s recommendations are to build strategic cross-sectorial partnerships, harness the potential of start-ups and incentivize coroporate social responsibility(CSR) investments from the private sector, to create programs that meet the needs of the farmers. “Failing that, ongoing efforts will not yield the desired results,” Joshi said.
